Valentine’s Nail Art: Cupid Approved
Flowers, chocolates… nail art?
Sigh. Although I am totally anti Valentine’s Day, I realize not everything is about me, so, I thought I would share a few lovely nail polish shades and designs for those who actually enjoy this holiday and have hot dates!
At the top, left hand side, I am wearing OPI‘s “Malaga Wine”. This is a really beautiful, deep, red shade. In the photo, I applied a base coat, 3 coats of “Malaga Wine” and a top coat. I think it’s very sophisticated and sexy. I am always happy with OPI nail polishes, so I don’t have anything bad to say. I would definitely apply more than 1 coat of this though. The more coats, the deeper the shade.
To the right, I decided to play around a little bit, and use Sally Hansen’s Crackle Overcoat. I know what you’re thinking, “this girl JUST said not everything is about her, what’s up with the broken heart!?”. I know! I know! But it’s so cute! To be totally honest, my initial intention was to paint it on with a solid white or pink nail polish, but creativity got the best of me. So, for anyone feeling a little bitter around this holiday, cute idea? Now, just a little review on the crackle. It is definitely not my favorite brand for crackle, however, for the price point, I think it’s very reasonable and it gets the job done. The reason why I like OPI and China Glaze crackles better is because they crack differently, I’ve found. I also like that they have bigger application brushes, but that’s just my preference. That being said, I obviously still purchased the Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat, and enjoy using it for nail art.
On the bottom, left hand side, I’ve used Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in “Red Carpet”. Now, first, I’m going to say that Xtreme Wear polishes are absolutely amazing. I own about 6 or 7 shades, and I am very happy with them. Great payoff, consistency, and they last! A+ for quality and color selections, lots to choose from. “Red Carpet” has a little glitter to it, which you can’t see in the photo because I didn’t use a flash, BUT, it’s very pretty. I used a base coat, 2 coats of the polish, and a top coat. Of course, the more coats you paint on, the darker it will show.
I took a toothpick, dipped it into a regular white nail polish and wrote “xo” on my ring fingernail. This is very easy to do, and it’s super cute. You can write anything you want, I just chose “xo” because it’s fitting with the holiday. You could even write the initials of your significant other! Look at me, trying to come up with semi-sweet ideas even though I loathe Valentine’s Day! A for effort? :)
If you have other cute nail art tricks, email me! I love, love, love sharing ideas.
Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥
